Marinette ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. The following policy explains how our Expense Tracker for Sheets™ add-on handles your information when you use our Google Workspace™ add-on.
What data Expense Tracker for Sheets™ accesses
Expense Tracker for Sheets™ requests access to the following Google service in order to function:
- Google Sheets™ — to read and write the expense, mileage, category, and settings data you enter into your spreadsheet
Expense Tracker for Sheets™ only accesses data in the specific spreadsheet where it is installed. It does not access any other files, folders, spreadsheets, or data in your Google account.
The add-on also installs a small automation trigger in your Google account — Google's consent screen describes this as permission to "run when you are not present." This trigger runs only when you edit your expense spreadsheet (it is what fills in the deductible columns automatically) and cannot access anything beyond that spreadsheet.
How we use your data
Expense Tracker for Sheets™ processes your data locally within your Google account to organize your expenses, calculate deductible amounts, and build your tax summaries — all inside your spreadsheet. We do not transmit, store, or process your data on any external server. Your financial data never leaves the Google ecosystem.
Data we do not collect
Expense Tracker for Sheets™ does not collect or store your personal or financial data on our servers, share your data with third parties, or use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
Anonymous usage and error diagnostics
To know whether features are working, and to find errors we would otherwise never hear about, Expense Tracker records which actions run. A record says that an expense row was added, or that the sidebar was opened, along with an anonymous code for the account that ran it.
These records never include your data. No expense amounts, no category or vendor names, no spreadsheet contents. The anonymous code comes from Google, cannot be traced back to your identity, and changes roughly every 30 days.
When something fails, Expense Tracker also records the error Google reported and structural facts about what went wrong, such as whether a tab was still present. The same rule applies: nothing from inside your sheet.
These records are written to Google Cloud Logging inside our Google Cloud project, kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically. They are never shared with anyone.
How your data is protected
Because everything runs inside your own Google account and nothing is ever sent to us, your data is protected by Google's own security. Marinette never holds a copy of it, so there is nothing for us to secure, lose, or expose.
Google API Services
Expense Tracker for Sheets™' use of Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data retention
Your financial data is never stored outside your Google account, so there is nothing of yours for us to retain or delete. The anonymous diagnostic records described above are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically. All your data remains in your Google account under your control at all times.
Not tax advice
Expense Tracker for Sheets™ is a tool for organizing and tracking expenses. It is not tax advice. Category descriptions, Schedule C line references, and deductibility percentages are provided for general reference only. Tax deductibility depends on your specific situation and tax laws change from year to year. Always consult a qualified tax professional before filing your taxes.
Children's privacy
Expense Tracker for Sheets™ is designed for business use and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of Expense Tracker for Sheets™ after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
