Marinette ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. The following policy explains how our Receipt Organizer add-on for Gmail™ handles your information when you use our Google Workspace™ add-on.
What data Receipt Organizer accesses
Receipt Organizer requests access to the following Google services in order to function:
- Gmail — to view the single email message you currently have open, only while the add-on is running. This is how it reads the sender, date, and attachments of a receipt email you choose to save.
- Google Drive™ — to create receipt files and folders in your Drive. Receipt Organizer can only see and manage the files it created for you; the rest of your Drive is not visible to it.
- Google Sheets™ — to add a row to the expense spreadsheet you choose to connect, or to one it creates for you if you ask it to. Google grants this permission across your spreadsheets rather than one at a time, so we want to be plain about it: Receipt Organizer only ever opens the single sheet whose link you paste in, and only writes to it when you press the button. It never reads your other spreadsheets, and nothing about them is sent anywhere. If the sheet you connect is not one of our Expense Tracker sheets, it adds a single tab named "Receipts from Gmail" and writes only there — it does not read or change the tabs you built.
Receipt Organizer cannot read your inbox, search your email, or access any message other than the one you have open while using it. It cannot see any Drive files or folders it did not create. If you never connect a spreadsheet, it never touches Google Sheets at all.
How we use your data
When you click Save, Receipt Organizer processes the open email within your Google account to copy an attachment — or create a PDF of the email — into a receipts folder in your Google Drive, named by date and vendor. All processing happens inside the Google ecosystem. We do not transmit, store, or process your data on any external server, and no content from your emails ever leaves your Google account.
If you connect an expense spreadsheet, pressing "Log to Expense Tracker" writes one row into it — the date, the sender's name, the amount shown in the card, and a link to the receipt file if you have saved one. That row is written directly to your own spreadsheet inside your Google account. The amount is read from the open email so it can be filled in for you, and you can correct it before the row is written; nothing about the email is stored by us either way.
To provide features such as "already saved" indicators and your recent-saves list, Receipt Organizer keeps a small record of the file names it has saved. This record is stored in your own Google account's add-on storage — not on our servers — and is deleted if you delete your receipts folder.
Data we do not collect
Receipt Organizer does not collect or store your personal or business data on our servers, share your data with third parties, or use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
Anonymous usage and error diagnostics
To know whether features are working, and to find errors we would otherwise never hear about, Receipt Organizer records which actions run. A record says that attachments were saved, or that an email was saved as a PDF, along with an anonymous code for the account that ran it.
These records never include your data. No email contents or subjects, no sender addresses, no receipt files, no file names. The anonymous code comes from Google, cannot be traced back to your identity, and changes roughly every 30 days.
When something fails, Receipt Organizer also records the error Google reported and structural facts about what went wrong, such as whether the receipts folder was still reachable. The same rule applies: nothing from inside your email or your Drive.
These records are written to Google Cloud Logging inside our Google Cloud project, kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically. They are never shared with anyone.
How your data is protected
Because everything runs inside your own Google account — receipts are read from your Gmail and saved to your Drive, and nothing is ever sent to us — your data is protected by Google's own security. Marinette never holds a copy of it, so there is nothing for us to secure, lose, or expose.
Google API Services
Receipt Organizer's use of Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data retention
Your email and receipt data is never stored outside your Google account, so there is nothing of yours for us to retain or delete. Your saved receipts live in your Google Drive under your control, and the add-on's small internal record of saved file names — and the link to the spreadsheet you connected, if you connected one — lives in your Google account and can be cleared at any time by deleting your receipts folder or uninstalling the add-on. The anonymous diagnostic records described above are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically.
Children's privacy
Receipt Organizer is designed for business use and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of Receipt Organizer after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
